why was my email marketing a failure?

i have a website, www.elvexonine.co.uk and i tried some email marketing , i emailed cycling shops, shooting shops and shops which supply building equipment all my emails were slightly different and i emailed a mixture of big and small company’s and out of 14 not a single one responded not even to say no. Here is what i put for some emails , it changed a little on some emails but i used it alot: —

"Hi

my name is Leo Stamatiou i turn 14 in June and i have recently set up an online shop selling Elvex – a high quality brand of safety wear. I focus on selling the safety glasses. I was hoping that if you get a second you could take a look at my website – www.elvexonline.co.uk and see if they think you could incorporate them into your website. I do not have much traffic on website as of yet but i am confident that if a larger website like your featured Elvex you would have no trouble selling them. I could of course offer you a huge discount and you could sell them and get a £2 return on every £1 you buy, if you were to buyout all my stock you would make £30,000 and like i said i am sure Elvex will sell. If you are not sure i could offer you a sample so you can check they meet the bill. Thanks for your time please get back to me on this adress ( leo.0123@hotmail.com )

Yours Faithfully, Leo Stamatiou. "

Whats wrong with that how can i improve it , why did they not respond?

I would have to agree that:

    1) You should have had someone proofread your proposal prior to sending it out.
    and
    2) It would have served you better not to mention your age.

I, however, do not think meeting the business owners in personal is necessary and believe, if anything, it would be a detriment to your success. That said I would recommend rewriting the proposal – making sure to remove your age, have it proofread, and send it out once more to double the businesses. If you do choose to meet with the owners I would recommend telling them you are the owner’s son/nephew/whatever.

    1) Your e-mail was poorly written. The grammar and punctuation are very poor and represent you in a bad light. You may be very intelligent and business-like in person, but you don’t come across that way in writing.

    2) Companies receive hundreds of e-mails like these a week. I typically delete the ones I receive without even reading them.

    3) I would never do business with a 13-year-old or even a 14-year-old.

    4) If you are serious about this venture, you need to contact people in person.

If you have a website, and you have a great product to sell, your main concern is to get your website to the point where you make money from it. How can you make money if your site is not getting any traffic?

It used to be hard to get traffic to your site. You had to spend a ton of money to get your website set up to take the orders, and then another bunch of money to get traffic to your website. You don’t have to do that anymore. Why not? I have a powerful, effective technique that if followed will guarantee your hit counter will exploded, and just in 15 minutes.

I created a 15 minute five-step process that will catapult your hit counter. It will be like looking at your electric meter when you run the air conditioner. The only difference, the counter that is turning is your hit counter. And this means a heavy amount of traffic to your site. And do you know what happens when you get a heavy amount of traffic to your site? If your sales copy is written properly, you will gain a ton of sales. Isn’t that what you want? Isn’t that why you built your website for to begin with?

Why have a non-productive website when it can be making untold amount of money for you. All you need to start it is by getting traffic to your site. And I solved that problem for you as well. Take a look at my super powerful program and you will find your hits skyrocket to the roof, even within 15 minutes.

I know it works because I have a friend who owns three websites. He wasn’t't seeing much traffic to any of them. As such, he wasn’t't making any money. When he tried my super powerful program, not only did his traffic increase to all his websites, but he also started making tons of money. If he can do it so can you.

Don’t waste another day watching your hit counter slowly increase when you can watch your hit counter turn at the speed of light.

Besides making a huge error with announcing your age, your whole correspondence revolves around "what’s in it for you" rather than "what’s in it for your reader".

You want to find a good copy writer and have them craft you a simple marketing piece that convinces the reader that the Elvex safety wear is the most incredible product on the market and that they better move fast before someone else steals their market share.

Also, no business owner will buy your product off of an email. As a previous poster mentioned, most business owners will not even read your email. They did not request a correspondence from you … this is called spam!

If your are marketing a product to a business you need to use direct mail. TYou need to include a sample or some awesome TRUE testimonials.

If being in business was as easy as sending an email and waiting for the fish to jump in the boat … we would all be rich.

Good luck on your venture. I greatly admire a young man like yourself taking a shot at the business world.

    Paul
