Interesting. Thanks for the clarification. I’m happy for you that you don’t need to insult another’s religion. But, isn’t that what the Blasphemy law is prohibiting? If so, why is their a problem with it? I respect your and other’s opinions about religion. I personally am of the opinion that mistakes are often made. But, we do the best we can, right? So, I respect religions that people choose to practice in spite of errors made by those religions. It’s about the people, man.
I don’t disagree with your wishes for free speech. I don’t disagree with your wish to be free from religions being forced upon you. The reason I write is because I think it’s very unfortunate when people perpetuate ignorance, when they feel a need to be rude when positions can be held respectfully. You have a right to be who you are. And, if you say so in a respectful manner, your position will be seen as valid. If you rant and rave, you loose the power to influence.
The people who want to pass this law are not demons. They are humans who suffer and want to be happy just like you and me. They’re probably wanting to pass this law because they think it will discourage violence or opposition of some sort. Even if their motives are selfish, they’re trying to be happy. Can you understand a wish to be happy? You can respect their intentions and believe there’s a better way to secure peace. If you’re respectful of them, they will more likely respect you.
I am familiar with Christianity. I was raised Catholic. I went to Catholic elementary and Catholic preparatory schools. I also went to public and Christian schools. I decided when I was in the 8th grade, that I didn’t want to be Catholic. Later, I had friends that knew much about the foundation of the Catholic church and, they shared their knowledge with me. I choose not to be Catholic. But, I know that there are people who find comfort in the church. And, I want them to be happy.
What a stupid law,is he crazy or what.
Ok, this law is not a “happy time” law or being pushed out to make peoples lives better.
I can unserstand a wish to be happy, however if it is for selfish motives and it will have a negative impact on others in that society and among their own society, then the law should not be introduced.
The law goes against about four other parts of the Irish Constitution, and is in violation of an EU equality act/ It is not something beneficial to anyone.
If you want to publically try and force someone to not say anything bad about your belief on anything, then sorry I’m not up for that.
Religious beliefs should be as open to honest criticism than any other belief. This law can effectively stop the general questioning that religions deserve.
If this law was introduced a few months ago, it may have very well halted progress and media coverage from the Ryan Commission.
Now people will blaspheme in protest of this law.
At least a few secular irish people will do that I’m sure.
Quite a few of woodsofjordans subscribers look more suspicious than he does. Especially the one who’s subscribed to all the sock accounts.
ffs what is wrong with people. pc specificly states it doesn’t infringe on FofS but this is just fucking stupid.
rage!
Hello anutuk. You seem to be of the impression that religion should be ‘respected’. Could you kindly explain to me why you think religion should be respected?
Hi MunsterAtheist. I hope you’re having a nice day. Sure, I can explain. “A religion is an organized approach to human spirituality … that gives meaning to the practitioner’s experiences of life through reference to a higher power, God or gods, or ultimate truth.” I’ve known people who found comfort and support in religions. Why should I oppose this? Where I am, religions don’t hurt each other. So, I can respect what makes people happy without sharing their views.
Thanks for your response. Here are some of the reasons why I think religion should not be respected;
Encourages faith (belief without evidence)
Causes conflict (See N. Ireland, India/Pakistan)
Childhood indoctrination
Limits free speech
Discourages free inquiry
Oppresses certain groups of people (women/homosexuals etc)
Opposes scientific/Medical progress
Provides false answers
Labels children as sinners that need to be ’saved’
Exploits the vulnerable/weak of mind
Causes unneccessary suffering (AIDS-contraception)
Holds civilization back (by a combination of all of the above_
There are other reasons, but I think those will do for now. Have a nice day.
“Where I am, religions don’t hurt each other.”
Must be nice to live somewhere sheltered like that.
Clearly you’ve never heard of places where conflict is purely religion-driven (point in case- half the middle east)
You’re a fucking legend.
You forgot to say “It went through the sewerage system”
Damn you’re a hideous site…….
gdi, ignore the dude under me, he is extremely racist, you should see how much drama he starts on his channel. I like your videos

Thanks, and yea I did check his profile.
Racist cunt…
Well don’t hold your feelings in! LOL
See, I agree with the homophobe who’s portfolio includes EQUALITY, the law was needed because it was in the constitution (from 1937, based on Old English Law), However; the lazy cunt didn’t want a referendum to remove the mother fucker. Send him a respectable e-mail (though he deserves my utter contempt), politely asking him not to sign the law into power until we can AFFORD a referendum.
It’s a fucking step back into the dark ages.
If this blashphemy law would become operative in Germany… i would recommend pure rebellion force anaginst it.
1/1/2010, It is now illegal to tell the truth in ireland! What sort of country is it?
